Do you to tell a story about it?
Yeah, well, okay, so one time,
a few years back, me and
Andrew
Jacob were hanging out here in
Rockford at the
Carlisle,
and
William, real deal
Safford, had just hitchhiked into town or something,
and he was all wound up and stuff,
and we were having fun, and decided we were going go walk on the tracks,
and, you know,
Andy said,
oh, let's just do it, let's take a walk, you know, the sun's going down,
it'll be a nice walk on the tracks.
And then, at a certain point,
the train whistle blew and the train came coming and I'd never
seen him run so fast in all my life.
And he put his head up, come on
Marco, we gotta go!
So, suddenly we just decided to hop the rails an d so
this is a song about that trip.
Well, I've come to tell the tale
Of the time I rode the rail
With
Andrew
J.
Duvall
From
Rutherford to
Rochelle
Well, it was in the summer of 2009, we was high on feldshervin wine,
we was high on feldshervin
So we went down to the tracks
And we seen them hobo shacks
And we cursed them with
no trespassing signs
And we cursed them with
no trespassing signs
And when the big train whistle blew,
Andrew spit out his gullet too,
and he said,
Marco, we got to go,
we got to get up on that train while it's drivin' slow.
So we hopped on a big rain car,
Andrew climbed up to see the stars,
Yeah, and
I, I was low in the cubbyhole
I was scared in my soul
Play it now, buddy
Yeah
And when the train came to a stop I started
climbin' towards the top of the
platz
When the brakeman came around
I was sure I had been found
So I froze the air in my lungs
And stood still on the upper rungs
Yeah, the brakeman did his job
And jumped on my ladder
Yeah, the brakeman did his job
And jumped on my ladder
Ž
Ž
ŽWell when the train stopped the next time
Ž
ŽHe started movin' down the line
Ž
Oh, and I knew the grace of
Him watching over me
As I jumped up on that train to victory
Yeah, and then we held on tight
To that rattling steel in the summer night
And I never felt more free in all my life
Oh, I never felt more free in all my life
Yeah, and this is the tale
Of a time I rode the rails
And hanged through jingle halls
From
Rockford to
Rochelle
From
Rockford to
Rochelle
Yeah, from
Rockford to
Rochelle
