I had a request a minute ago
for an old tune
that the Carter family used to play a long time ago let
me hunt out that that pig yolk that I had now.
Uncle Ben Miller used to call this
thing a pig yolk
that you put on the neck there and I never he
never did explain to me what a pig yolk was
and one time when
I was in California
Bill Monroe told me what it was used to
they built them old rail fences
you know and and
they'd turn the hogs out
in the main pasture where the cattle was when after they passed a
stock law that is
and they had to put them up off
the mash in the woods
but the pig yolk was the thing
that they made out of a little forked
stick
and a piece of leather string
and put it around his neck
so he couldn't crawl
through the cracks of the fence.
E
E
Didn't keep them fenced in,
boy, they'd root up
E

all the corn.
This tune that I was gonna play
that the Carter family
used to play a whole lot, only they,
I think that one of them played
a dobro guitar on this,
and I'm afraid I ain't a dobro picker,
E
E
so I'm gonna have to
pick it another way.
It's a tune called Darling Pal
of Mine.
and they did use the dobro
guitar
E
E
and an autoharp on this.
