I awakened just
yesterday morning
And I'd found myself without
very much to do
Well, in trying to keep busy,
my mind began to wander
And I'd found myself
thinking about you
And how a chance to fly the airline
to come knockin' on your door
Said you wanted to see the
world from the clouds
Lord, I love my little lady
with her strawberry red hair
Freckles and an orange silk blouse
I started reading over some letters,
for once we used to write,
but I'd kept them, well,
hidden in a drawer.
Some wrinkled up postcards
of the places where she'd been,
and the lock of hair that was she wore.
She deserved so much more
than I could give her
But yet I loved her more than
the law should allow
I miss my little lady
with her strawberry red hair
Freckles and an or ange silk blouse
Ah, but now she's just a memory
of how good her life once was to me
She's a lady in every
sense of the word
She's entitled to her own ideas
if that's what she'd like to be
If she's happy,
then I'm happy for her
Ah, but sometimes on those rainy,
dreary Sunday afternoons
When I'm sleeping,
I think I hear her call my name
Lord, I feel her arms around me
I've kissed her on the cheek
But I awaken, and it was only a dream
She'll never know the love I have
for her inside my heart
When she was here with me
she made me very proud
And I love my little lady
with her strawberry red hair
Freckles and an or ange silk blouse
You know I love my little lady
with her strawberry red hair,
freckles and an orange silk blouse.
