When I first started getting interested in politics,
there was a now -famous speech

just getting started about that time,

It was entitled,
You Ain't Gonna Have Ol' Cuckoo
to Kick Around No More.
Well, I ain't got no axe to

grind one way or the other
as far as politics are concerned,
but I remember thinking,
boy, that sure would make a cute song.
So I sat down with a guitar and

pen and paper,
Ab
an d the song I'm about to sing for you
is what I came up with.
Now it's the only song on this album
that was recorded in our studios
in Bakersfield, California.
The rest of the album
was recorded in front of a live audience
at the White House in Washington DC
with only two microphones.
Now there was a reason
Ab
that we only used two
microphones.
It was simply all the microphones
they had.
Now we didn't want to take it back
to the studios
and doctor it all up.
We thought that you'd enjoy it
just the way that we recorded
it that night.
So here it is.
